Brendan Paddick
A native of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Brendan holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration from Memorial University and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. He is the founder and former chief executive officer of Columbus Communications Inc. Prior to being sold to Liberty Global in 2016, Columbus Communications provided digital video, broadband Internet, IP Voice, wholesale capacity and cloud-based corporate data solutions throughout 42 countries in the greater Caribbean, Central/South American and Andean regions.
Brendan was named one of Canada's Top 40 under 40 in 200, awarded Ernst & Young's Atlantic Canadian Entrepreneur of the year in 2011, and was inducted into the Atlantic Business CEO Hall of Fame in 2015. Amongst he numerous public, private and not-for-profit affiliations, Brendan is a member of the Board of Directors of Liberty Latin America, MDA Space and Bahamas Telecommunications Company, and was the former Chairman of the Board at Nalcor Energy.
Richard Hugh
Richard is Executive Managing Director and Co-CIO of Columbus Capital Corp. Prior to Columbus Capital, Richard was SVP, Head of Corporate Development & Investor Relations at Cable & Wireless where he led the company’s mergers & acquisitions group and its sale to Liberty Global in 2016.
Prior to Cable & Wireless, Richard was EVP, Head of Corporate Development & IR at Columbus Communications, a telecommunications provider with operations throughout the greater Caribbean, Central/South American and Andean regions.
Richard began his career as a Chartered Accountant at Deloitte and BDO before joining RBC’s investment banking group in New York City. As an investment banker covering Technology, Media and Telecommunications companies within the firm’s Corporate Finance Origination group, Richard originated and executed transactions across the bank’s various product platforms from mergers & acquisitions, public and private debt, equity financing including venture and private equity, leveraged buyouts, private placements and structured products/transactions.
